Frequently Asked Questions

The following are just some of the questions you may be asking yourself in relation to web design & hosting. We hope these help you but if you still have questions, feel free to contact us.

Do I really need a website?

In short… if you have a business then yes, you need a website. Afterall, with the amount of information that is available with just a few keystrokes or clicks of the mouse, why wouldn’t you want your business’ information to be included?… most (if not all) of your competitors probably already have a website.

More and more people and businesses use the Internet to find information. Whether it is locally or internationally, the Internet is the one place where they are likely to find what they are looking for. Unless, of course, they are looking for you or your product and you don’t have a site.

Having a website allows your business to advertise 24 hours a day, seven days a week and it is available whenever someone is in need of information on your product or services. The elements you include on your website are a determining factor for how successful a marketing device it will be for you.

How much does a web site cost?

There are quite a few factors that are going to affect the ultimate cost of your web site. These factors include how many pages you are going to have, if you will sell products on your website, the graphic work involved, and how interactive your future web site will be. We work with you to help determine what you need before a cost is determined.

How long does it take to have a web site designed?

The time needed to develop your website is generally determined by such factors as the size of your web site, the complexity of your site design, our current client design schedule and the level of communication between us (the faster a response to our questions/emails, the quicker things will move along).

What do I put on my site?

That would depend on the goals of your web site, what your business provides, and who your target market is. You would include as much information about your products or services that your customers would need to purchase from you and images that make it all come together in a visually appealing way. Again, we will work with you to help get the right information onto your site and in such a way that it will help to get good placement for your site in the search engines.

Speaking of search engines, what needs to be done to get a good placement in their directories?

As mentioned, we will work with you to put together just the right content on your site to not only provide as much information to your site visitors as they will need but also to help get your site a good placement in the search engines. This will include having keywords in the content to help draw the right results from the search engine spiders as well as other optimization techniques.

What else will I need for my website?

A website is just one of three aspects needed to bring it to your audience. You will also need a domain name which is the address of your site. For instance, our domain name is www.equinewebdesign.ca. A domain name is also referred to as a url (universal resource locator). We can help you choose and register your domain name.

You will also need web hosting which is a place on a server where your website will sit and be accessible on the Internet. We can also provide you with a hosting package, if you need one. Read more here.

Once my site is online, how can changes be made to it?

We would be happy to help with maintaining your website. Some people hope to do the changes themselves but this will require having a number of software applications to do graphic work, site design and uploading to the server. We already have this software. Not to mention, it can take a newcomer to web design quite a while to do even the smallest changes taking them away from running their business. With our 10+ years of experience, we can get the updates done much quicker without you having to worry about running into any problems.

I would like you to design my website. What do I do now?
